Titbit : This 2019 release includes a star studded roster of artists you  will be familiar with.
For some reason the Big Machine version escaped my attention.
What a gem - In a podcast type fashion Sheryl goes into detail before each track.

A note on the lyrical content to Lava.
Lava is of course a euphuism for the raw emotion exploding forth from a person triggered
to a fight or flight reaction to a situation. A survival skill often cloaked in violence , no longer
tolerated in an enlightened society.A cage is no thinking wo/man's solution to a problem.

TitBit : A re visit for me ; not a marvel/super hero fan so on my first encounter
many moons ago as season one  was first screening ; I dropped it like a hot potato
after 2 minutes into the first episode ; before encountering Hugh Jackman's character
Butcher .The series one redeeming feature.A great  character superbly performed.
( not a Jackman fan either )
Pulls no punches so check the company you are in before viewing.

Big Ears says : Neil Finn - Solo at the Seymour Centre - check it .
2 cents worth : Would never class myself  as a fan & the fact that when they made him
a Macster they needed 2 guitarists to replace Buckingham speaks volumes to me.
A bit harsh to refer to them as a covers band now but until they produce the next leg
of the Mac story probably a vein of truth to the comment.
The excellence of this kiwi statesman of vibe remains awe inspiring .
I find myself drawn to these wonderful naked encounters he is apt to throw out there.
For many an artist that attempt this - nothing but a yawn.
Not this guy .
Throw away  over cooked production/arrangement
his Mana becomes all the more evident.

November passing of Ken Hensley - Keys for Uriah Heep.
Roger Dean & Hipnogisis darlings with engaging cover  art.
Byron's vocal nestled in the shadow of heavy weights : Plant , Gillan , Osbourne , Holder.
Heep never really moved the needle for me ; only redemption in the 73 live LP.
Gary Thain - bass player a kiwi connection ; electrocuted onstage should my memory
serve me correctly - Easy Livin' from Demons & Wizards a stand out moment.

**NB : Thanks to Steve for reaching out re Gary Thain.**
Free T on the way  .
He did actually recover from the onstage electrocution only to leave the band
a few months later , never fully recovering.
Rust devoured him not long after making him yet another inductee to the 27 club.
Wonderworld was his last studio contribution .

FlashBack : 2015 Phoenix Az Foo Fighters gig - Jewel invited onstage.
Titbit : I was on the loose in Sth Florida when this hit.
Every three chord wonder cover band in every dive bar were grabbing a chick they knew
with a set of pipes & covering this & not even coming close ; pun intended.
Not even the Hollywood Vampires.
Kudos to Jewel.

December passing of Leslie West - axeman/vocal for Mountain
Titbit : A plus size figure he was in fact attributed for the band naming.
Caught him in London in the late eighties at  the Town & Country , Camden
Still had his chops & vocal .
Greenwich village toe rags , they became Woodstock darlings (only their 4th performance together)
Corky Laing could really pound those skins while Pappalardi  brought a light vocal touch
with strong bass lines & had a long standing association producing Cream.
A bullet with his name on it found him in 83 in a
Soap Opera of controversy.
Stand out moments are the driving force of Mississippi Queen - West vocal
Theme from an Imaginary Western - Pappalardi vocal.

Titbit : Looking for a rabbit hole to disappear into over the season of the carpenter.
Look no further.
Been with this guy  since the infamous 79 release of Bop ( first digitally recorded LP )
An artist you take the time to absorb - Bop is one of those veins of gold that
continues to render through out a lifetime.
Of course his fingerprints scan a spectrum of projects & the stuff of legend.

A note on the lyrical content to BurningPost.
Not biographical in either sense of the word.A character molded on a potters wheel  much the same
as a  potter would shape a hunk of clay from nothing.
At a personal level I have always regarded life as a series of cross roads with a sign post laying
out the choices. Each path taken leading to the consequence of the options attached to the
next post. Consider the plight of the individual painted into a corner watching that post
going up in smoke.Not a time for judgment nor recrimination but empathy.
Missy is not Tui Teka's mother.
Why the three monkeys? : see no evil ,hear no evil , speak no evil.
The code of silence is deafening.

Seem to be garnering an unusual amount of attention State side.
New Zealand is a Bilingual culture with in a rapidly expanding multi culture.
A Glossary of words & terms
Eh haw - an expression used in getting some ones attention.          Taringas - ears
Jackin' - to look/stare.       Jack nor hey - the person doing the looking.
stranglin' a cat - piercing noise. Teko - shit.  Whanau - family.
stroke of the tar brush - mixed racial decent  ( euro/indigenous )
the ultimate teko insult - a reference to cannibalism
bogans - probably best described as petrol head rednecks dressed in black,
congregated in west Auckland but by no means limited to.
  K Road - karangahape rd Auckland ; every city has one , the beatnik, bohemiam edge
to the city. Faffafini - transgender . Puku - stomach
Mana - honour .  Utu- revenge. Patu - greenstone adze ( tomohawk style weapon)
piwakawaka ; tui ; kereru ; morepork; bellbird; riffleman - all native birds.
